Shabbat Shuva
Days of Awe
Rabbi Elyahu Kin delivers a lecture of where our focus should be during the first ten days of the New Year. "Shabbat Shuva" is the Sabbath between Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur when the portion read for the Haftara begins with the prophet Hoshea's words "Shuva Yisrael" - "Return, O Israel, to the Lord your G-d, for you have stumbled in your iniquity." The ten days leading up to Yom Kippur are known to be days of introspection and Repentance.

Shavuot
Count Down towards Spiritual Freedom
This lecture, delivered by Rabbi Elyahu Kin in 2009 examines the the seven-week counting period between Passover and the Shavuot Holiday. The counting of 49 days, or 7 full weeks, shows great anticipation towards reaching the ultimate purpose for which the Jewish People were redeemed from Egypt - to receive the Torah. Whereas Passover represents physical freedom from bondage, the giving of the Torah on Shavuot represents spiritual freedom from bondage to idolatry and immorality.
