This lecture, delivered by Rabbi Elyahu Kin in 2012, reviews the significance of the Shavuot Holiday which commemorates the day G-d gave the Torah to the Jewish People. The word Shavuot means weeks because It marks the completion of the seven-week counting period from Passover. However, it also means "oaths," for on this day, compared to a wedding, G‑d swore eternal devotion to the Jewish People, and the Jewish People in turn pledged everlasting loyalty to Him.
